TOURING
The touring secton promotes recreational rides of varying lengths in the Grand Traverse Region, including the Old Mission Peninsula and Leelanau County. Members are folks of diverse ages and experience: families, young adults, couples, and singles all sharing their enthusiasm for cycling. Everyone has fun while promoting effective, safe and lawful use of bicycles.
Weekend special rides feature scenic routes with social focus - often food. Evening rides on Monday and Wednesdays average 10-25 miles with slow or faster paces.
The Recreational Mountain Bikers promote quality off road riding experiences rather than speed. No one is too slow or inexperienced to ride with this group.
Weekly rides take place on trails and backroads at a number of locations throughout the Grand Traverse Area. Week night rides lasting 1-2 hours are held one night every week roughly from April through October.
Annual weekend camping and biking trips feature such destinations as Grand Island and Searchmont.
Non-members are welcome to share several rides with any CCCC group before joining. Visitors from "downstate" are especially welcome. Schedules or rides are available in the CCCC Newsletter available in a|l area bike shops or by calling the CCCC Rideline: 941 -BIKE.

Cherry Capital Cycling Club, founded in 1984, encompasses many phases of bicyclng with a Touring Section, Racing Section, and both recreational and racing Mountain Bike rides. The individual sections have programs of rides, time trials, and other activities.
The Club as a whole has a membership meeting in April, an Annual meeting in October, and various other meetings throughout the year.
The Bicycling Map of Grand Traverse Region of Michigan, new 2nd edition, 1991, is a popular project of the club. It contains routes and recommendations of the entire northwestern part of lower Michigan, from Mackinaw City in Emmet County to Frankfort in Benzie County. Four color sheet. Textoprint (plasticized, water proof and wrinkle resistant paper), 7/16" to a mile. Shows many campgrounds and favorite restaurants. Day tours (15 - 105 miles) with brief descriptions. CCCC is dedicated to promoting the safe use of bicycles, protecting the rights of cyclists, as well as providing opportunities for members to socialize with others with an interest in bicycles. CCCC also sponsors educational events like the Bicycle Safety Rodeo in May, and promotion of Bike Month.
The CCCC Newsletter brings news of the clubs activities and various articles of interest to the members 10 times yearly.
The Racing Section promotes training and techniques for road and mountain bikers interested in competition.
The USCF (United States Cycling Federation) is the national governing body of cycling in the US Olympic Committee. CCCC membership in this organization allows our Iicensed riders to compete in sanctioned races, and allows the club to conduct sanctioned events with technical support from the USCF district repesentative
CCCC Sponsors invitational rides including the R.A.T. (Ride Around Torch) based in Elk Rapids in July, and the Leelanau Harvest Tour in Leelanau County in September. R.A.T. and LHT attract hundreds of cyclists from throughout Michigan.
CCCC is affiliated with the U.S. Cycling Federation (USCF), League of American Bicyclists (LAB), and the League of Michigan Bicyclists (LMB), and the Michigan Mountain Bike Association (MMBA). These organizations provide many benefits for CCCC members. Their publications, Cycling USA, Bicycle USA, Michigan Bicyclist, and Bent Rim Bugle are available in the Northwestern Michigan College (NMC) Library for member's use.
