Cadillac Area Nordic Skiing

Endowed with maximum snow conditions of approximately 120 inches annually, the five cross-country ski trails provide nordic skiers with a wide of variety of trails to sample. The cross-country trails are easily accessible. Some of the trails are lighted and some are groomed for skating as well as classic styles.

McGuire's Resort

McGuire's Resort is the centerpiece of nordic skiing in Cadillac. The full service resort offers 7 kilometers of groomed trails, 3 of which are lighted for night skiing on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There is no fee to registered house guests. Rental equipment is available.

Cadillac Pathway

These trails are marked with mileage between numbered intersection points. A Nordic Skiing Trail rating system is used to differentiate between easiest, more difficult, and most difficult trails. The trail is located off US-131 on Boon Road. Maps are available at the U.S. Forest Service and the Chamber of Commerce.

Cool Ski Area

Located south of Cadillac on the rolling hills of lower Michigan's highest terrain. Trails are groomed and wildlife can occasionally be seen. Forty kilometers of trails are available, some left untracked to satisfy those seeking solitude and pristine panoramas. Call 768-4624 for more information and directions.

Heritage Nature Trail

Begin this trail either behind the Carl T. Johnson Hunting & Fishing Center on M-115, or at the west end of Kenwood Heritage Park. The trail is groomed and skiers shouldn't be surprised if deer, wild turkeys or other animals are seen along the route. Skiers are asked to stay on designated trails to help preserve the delicate habitat of the many animals living within the area. The trail covers 2-3 miles.

MacKenzie Trail

The Mackenzie Trail is an outstanding Nordic trail set in a beautiful hardwood forest near Caberfae Peaks, west of Cadillac. While use of this trail is also free, donations are encouraged to help defray the cost of trail grooming by Cadillac Winter Promotions. To reach the trail, take M-55 west to Caberfae Road, then north 2 miles. Entrances are located on 38 Road, 1 mile west of Caberfae Peaks.
